About tagin!
tagin! is a crowd-sourced WiFi-based point-of-interest (POI) service and API that may be used to create context-aware, location-based services (LBS) and applications for outdoor and indoor use. Currently, application developers can use tagin! to post and retrieve addresses, indoor references (room, floor & area), and tags that are specific to the location of their tagin!-enabled devices.
These are some of the key features of tagin!:
- Floor and room*-level accuracy indoors
- Deployed globally (use it anywhere in the world where there are wireless internet access points)
- Provides basic location/context awareness without the need for mapping
- Wiki-tagging approach eliminates the need to anger small-town residents with weird-looking cars.
- 3rd-party development support (retrieve/post tags from your own custom app!)
*Room-level accuracy may not be achieved in every location.
